This "small amazone sword plant" is probably the most popular aquarium plant available. It is just a bit wider than the grissibachi and just a bit smaller than the bleheri (nr. 800). The amazonicus can become very big and have more than 50 leaves. This kind of species are also for sale at Songrow! Take a look at Giants! Combine this Amazonicus with various smaller echinodorusses and the South American river will appear out of nowhere!"

The Amazon, or Amazonian echinodorus, is always a welcome settler in an aquarium. In the aquarium, the plant looks great both as part of a group and as a tapeworm.

Keeping an Amazon in an aquarium does not require much hassle. The plant is quite loyal to the composition of the water. When maintaining optimal conditions, it grows without dormant periods and pleases the eye with its chic colors and sizes.

Amazonian Echinodorus (Echinodorus amazonicus) is native to Brazil. In the natural biotope, it grows in water bodies without current or with its weak manifestation. It is considered exclusively an aquatic plant. However, when the water level drops, it feels good in humid air. At the same time, the shape of the leaf blades does not change.

Outwardly, the young Amazonian echinodorus is similar to its closest relatives - yarrow, small and dwarf Amazons.

Like the tennelus, the Amazon is a bushy plant. Short stem and almost invisible. Visually, it seems that a lot of leaves extend from a bunch of horses.

Amazon leaves are elongated in the shape of a sword with pointed ends. Old leaf blades closer to the surface of the water have wavy edges.

The length of the leaves together with the petioles can reach up to 45-50 cm. With sufficient light, the color of the plate is usually bright green, it may darken slightly. In the absence of sufficient nutrition, they acquire a brownish or reddish hue.

The root system is powerful. The roots penetrate deep into the soil of the aquarium. Therefore, when planting Echinodorus amazonicus, you should take care of the height of the substrate and nutrition.

Natural growing conditions are quite diverse. This makes Echinodorus Amazonian tolerant at the genetic level. However, to ensure that the plant in the aquarium showed all its beauty, it is necessary to follow some rules.

First of all, the aquarium must be high enough. It looks beautiful, of course, when the leaves creep along the surface. However, underwater bushes look the most chic.

The area occupied by the Amazon is quite large. For this reason, the volume of the aquarium for keeping the Amazon is desirable to have from 60 liters. Better from 100. Take my word for it that an adult bush in a large jar will not look like a small bush. Yes, and the neighbors in the aquarium will be more comfortable.

With regards to the characteristics of water, the optimal readings are as follows:

The acidity of the water should be closer to neutral. pH is about 7. Small deviations of the threat will not bring, but you should try to maintain consistency.

Water hardness dGH 8-12 is quite comfortable.

Temperature 24 - 28 degrees. An aquarium plant will be able to grow even with a decrease to 19-20, however, the growth rate is noticeably reduced.

Particular attention should be paid to the nutrition of Echinodorus. The Amazon loves to eat. Grows very slowly in poor soil. The number of leaves, their size decreases. The color is changing.
